Established in 1987, the National Association of Home Inspectors is a nonprofit association to promote and develop the home inspection industry. As one of the leaders in the Home Inspection industry, the mission of the National Association of Home Inspectors is to promote excellence and profession in the industry. In addition to that, they also provide a standard of practice and a code of ethics to educate their members and to inform the public of the benefits and scope of a professional home inspection.

The National Association of Home Inspectors has members in all 50 states of the US. They also have members in Canada. Their membership is comprised of little over 2300 home inspectors. All of the members of the National Association of Home Inspectors work together to develop and maintain standards of excellence. By doing this, they also benefit from professional development and the exchange of ideas between National Association of Home Inspectors members through continuing education and seminars. Information and support are available for members regarding their business and inspection practices and service to their clients.

The National Association of Home Inspectors also conducts promotional activities. The purpose is to educate the public and promote the importance of a reputable home inspection as an integral part of the residential real estate transaction. Moreover, the National Association of Home Inspectors has a national referral service to help consumers find facts about the industry and the group's standards, and unites their members with new clients.

National Association of Home Inspectors Board of Directors

The National Association of Home Inspectors is led by a group of outstanding individuals in the home construction industry. They are people who have proven their mettle in home inspection and have all the technical as well as educational background and skill to do their job well.

First on the line is the Board of Directors president of the National Association of Home Inspectors, David Kratoska, CRI, with the World Inspection Network – N.W. Minneapolis. His Vice President is Scot Tully, CRI, of the Building Specs of Virginia, Inc. The Secretary com Treasurer is Peter Robberson, CRI, of the Welcome Home Inspections in Colorado Springs, CO.

There are currently six directors of the National Association of Home Inspectors. These are Michael Goewey, CRI (Property Facts Home Inspections), Allan Monat, CRI (Metro Real Estate Inspections), Everett Rawlings, CRI (Inspectech/Federal Building Inspections), Jim Turner, CRI (Building Inspections & Construction Consulting), and finally, David Kolesari, CRI (Miwaukee Homesight, Inc.).

For Consumers

Despite it being primarily a trade organization for home inspectors, the National Association of Home Inspectors also caters to the needs of the consumers. After all, the consumers are the receivers of the services which the National Association of Home Inspectors hopes to improve.
